Access to the Internet has become a routine (even necessary), daily
task for anyone - whether it is for the purpose of checking e-mail, doing
research, updating market or stock information, e-commerce, or downloading
software programs or patches.
The conventional approach has been to equip everyone needing Internet access
with a modem and dedicated (or shared) telephone line, as well as a (typically
shared) dial-up account through an Internet Service Provider (ISP).
Technologies such as cable modem and xDSL are now available to provide
even faster Internet access.
The problem with this approach is - it can become expensive - and
generally, two individuals cannot use the same Internet account at the
same time - even if they have their own modem. With cable modems
and xDSL, many providers do not allow an entire network to be attached,
but only one PC. There are also the concerns of exposing the organization
to security threats from the internet and that internet access is not abused
by those who wish to visit "non-productive" sites.
There now are hardware/software solutions for those who enjoy the benefit
of a network. As long as the workstations are running Windows 95/98/NT,
MacOS, or any other operating system that supports TCP/IP, the solution
is very cost-effective: the BlackWidow.
Lastly, since we often find that Clients struggle with new, advanced hardware
devices attached to their networks, we have created a product and an an
atmosphere where Clients never need lay hands on the BlackWidow. We do
it all!!
